The Solomon Grundy Classic 30 Bottle Wine Kit Range is the most accessible entry point in the Solomon Grundy family — a straightforward, great-value kit that makes 30 bottles of enjoyable home wine in six simple steps. Perfect for anyone new to home winemaking, or for experienced brewers who want a reliable, no-fuss kit for regular batches.
At £19.99 for 30 bottles, the Classic range works out at under 67p per bottle — exceptional value for a decent, drinkable wine you can make in your own kitchen.
Available in four classic styles: Dry White, Medium White, Red, and Rosé. These four varieties cover the most popular wine styles and are deliberately kept straightforward — easy to make, easy to enjoy.
About the Wine Styles
- Dry White — A clean, crisp dry white with a fresh, light character. Versatile and food-friendly — pairs well with fish, chicken, and light pasta dishes.
- Medium White (Sweet White) — A softer, gently sweet white with a rounded mouthfeel. Approachable and easy drinking, ideal for those who prefer a less austere style.
- Red — A fruity, medium-bodied red with a smooth finish. Accessible rather than tannic — great for everyday drinking.
- Rosé — A light, refreshing rosé with delicate fruit character. Best served chilled.
Solomon Grundy Classic vs Gold vs Platinum
The Classic range is the entry-level tier. If you enjoy it and want more complexity and body, step up to the Gold range which uses higher-quality grape concentrate and produces a noticeably richer wine. For the best Solomon Grundy has to offer, the Platinum range is outstanding.
What's Included
Each kit contains grape concentrate, yeast, finings, stabiliser, and full instructions. Just add water and a small amount of sugar — everything for fermentation and clearing is provided.
What Equipment Do You Need?
A 23-litre fermentation vessel, airlock, hydrometer, siphon, and 30 wine bottles. New to home winemaking? Our wine starter kits include everything in one bundle. Always use a good sanitiser — this is the single most important step for a clear, clean-tasting wine.
Tips for Best Results
- Ferment at 18–22°C for a clean, consistent result
- Allow the wine to clear fully before bottling — patience here pays off in clarity and taste
- Condition in the bottle for at least 2 weeks before drinking
- The red style benefits from serving at room temperature; whites and rosé are best chilled
