What's Included
Each kit contains grape concentrate, yeast, finings, stabiliser, and full instructions. Just add water and 4kg of sugar (not included) — everything for fermentation and clearing is provided.
What Equipment Do You Need?
A 23-litre fermentation vessel, airlock, hydrometer, siphon, and 30 wine bottles. New to home winemaking? Our wine starter kits include everything in one bundle. Always sanitise with VWP or ChemSan — this is the single most important step for a clear, clean-tasting wine.
Choosing (and upgrading) your yeast
For the Red: try Mangrove Jack's CR51, bred for light, fruity, early-drinking reds. For the Dry White: Mangrove Jack's CL23 keeps it crisp and clean. For the Medium White and Rosé: Mangrove Jack's MA33 suits their fruitier, slightly sweeter character. If your fermenting spot runs cold over winter (often under 15°C), Lalvin EC-1118 is a reliable fallback across styles.
Tips for Best Results
- Ferment at 18–22°C for a clean, consistent result
- Allow the wine to clear fully before bottling — patience here pays off in clarity and taste
- Condition in the bottle for at least 2 weeks before drinking
- The red style benefits from serving at room temperature; whites and rosé are best chilled
