The Woodforde's Home Brew Kit Range brings Norfolk's most celebrated real ale brewery to your home brew setup. Woodforde's have won more CAMRA awards than any other brewery in Britain, and their home brew kits faithfully recreate those same award-winning styles — giving you genuinely exceptional beer at a fraction of the cost of buying it in a pub.

Available in six classic Woodforde's styles: Wherry, Bure Gold, Admiral Reserve, Nelsons Revenge, Nog (Porter Style), and Headcracker. Each 3kg kit produces 40 pints of rich, full-flavoured real ale.

About the Beer Styles

  • Wherry — Woodforde's most iconic beer. A beautifully balanced amber bitter with a complex malt character and clean hop finish. CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain winner.
  • Bure Gold — A golden, aromatic ale with a refreshing hoppy character. Lighter in colour but packed with flavour.
  • Admiral Reserve — A rich, warming premium ale with deep malt character. Perfect for special occasions.
  • Nelsons Revenge — A robust, full-bodied premium bitter with a pleasantly bitter finish. One of Woodforde's most popular ales.
  • Nog (Porter Style) — A dark, smooth porter-style ale with chocolate and roasted notes. Rich and deeply satisfying.
  • Headcracker — A deceptively smooth, potent barley wine. Strong and complex with a warming finish.

What's Included

Each 3kg kit contains premium hopped malt extract and a sachet of yeast. Add water, sugar (or ideally spray malt for a fuller result), and ferment for 10–14 days. Full instructions included.

What Equipment Do You Need?

A 25-litre fermentation bucket, airlock, hydrometer, siphon, and bottles or a pressure barrel. Our home brew starter kits include everything in one bundle. A good sanitiser like StarSan is essential.

Tips for Best Results

  • Ferment at 18–20°C for the cleanest flavour expression
  • Use light spray malt in place of sugar for better body and head retention
  • Condition for at least 2 weeks in the bottle — these styles genuinely improve with time
  • Serve at cellar temperature (10–12°C) to bring out the full complexity
