Which CO2 option is right for you?
Pressure barrels (King Keg and similar)
The Brewgas L.30 (S30) cylinder screws into a barrel cap fitted with an S30 valve, such as our Top Tap King Keg with S30 Valve. Once it's empty, order a Brewgas S30 refill. You send us your empty cylinder with the seals intact, and we ship a full one when it arrives. Please note that new S30 cylinders can't be sent to Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or the Scilly Isles.
Corny kegs and kegerators
For force-carbonating and serving from ball lock kegs, use a larger gas bottle with a dual-gauge CO2 regulator. The regulator has a W21.8 thread, the standard UK CO2 cylinder fitting, with one gauge for bottle contents and one for output pressure. Our 3.15kg and 6.35kg CO2 bottles and their refills are collect-in-store only.
Mixed gas for stouts and smooth ales
CO2/nitrogen mixes give a creamier, tighter head and lower carbonation. Choose a 30/70 or 60/40 mix. Both are 6.35kg bottles, in store only. Mixed gas bottles use a different thread from CO2 bottles, so check that your regulator matches.
See our kegging and draught equipment for disconnects, beer line and taps.
Frequently Asked Questions
What CO2 do I need for a King Keg?
If your King Keg cap has an S30 valve, use a Brewgas S30 cylinder. If it has a pin valve, use 8g CO2 bulbs instead.
How does the S30 refill exchange work?
Order the refill, send us your empty Brewgas S30 cylinder with its seals intact, and we'll send you a full cylinder once your empty arrives.
Can you post large CO2 bottles?
No. The 3.15kg and 6.35kg CO2 and mixed gas bottles and their refills are collect-in-store only. The Brewgas S30 cylinder can be posted to most UK addresses.
Do I need a regulator?
Yes, for a full-size gas bottle feeding a keg. A regulator sets the serving or carbonating pressure. Our dual-gauge regulator fits standard UK W21.8 CO2 bottles.
What is mixed gas used for?
A CO2/nitrogen mix such as 30/70 is used to serve stouts and smooth ales with a creamy head and lower fizz.
