Mangrove Jack's Craft Series Home Brew Kits are the gold standard of premium extract brewing. Developed in New Zealand — home to some of the world's most innovative craft breweries — these kits use professional-grade ingredients to produce beers with genuine craft quality that rivals what you'd pay £5–6 a can for in a supermarket.
Each kit comes with a 1.8kg pouch of hopped liquid malt extract, a sachet of Mangrove Jack's M-Series specialist yeast, and separate hop pellets for dry hopping — the same technique used by craft breweries to maximise aroma. The result is a hop-forward, flavourful beer that tastes nothing like a standard kit beer.
Available in 13 styles: American IPA (with dry hops), American Pale Ale, Australian Pale Ale, Baltic Porter, Bohemian Pilsner, Citra Wheat, Cold IPA, Hoppy Brown Ale, Juicy Session IPA, New Zealand Pilsner, Session IPA, West Coast IPA, and Wheat Beer.
What Makes Mangrove Jack's Craft Series Different?
- Specialist M-Series yeast — Each kit includes a specific yeast strain matched to the style. The M44 US West Coast yeast, for example, is used in the American IPA and produces a characteristically clean, dry finish that suits the hop-forward style perfectly.
- Real dry hops — Several kits include a separate hop pellet sachet for dry hopping after primary fermentation. This adds an intense fresh-hop aroma that you simply can't get from a standard kit.
- Premium NZ malt — The liquid malt extract is of noticeably higher quality than budget kits, giving better body, head retention, and mouthfeel.
What's Included
1.8kg hopped liquid malt extract, M-Series specialist yeast, hop pellets (on selected styles), and full brewing instructions. Add water and optionally a small amount of light spray malt to boost body further.
What Equipment Do You Need?
A 23-litre fermentation vessel, airlock, hydrometer, siphon, and bottles or a pressure barrel. If you don't have these, our home brew starter kits bundle everything together. Always sanitise thoroughly with StarSan or VWP — hop-forward beers are particularly sensitive to contamination.
Tips for Best Results
- Use the included M-Series yeast rather than a generic ale yeast — it's been matched to the style
- Dry hop during secondary fermentation for maximum hop aroma (add the hop pellets when primary fermentation is nearly complete)
- Ferment at the lower end of the recommended temperature range for a cleaner hop character
- Condition for at least 10–14 days in the bottle before drinking
