Which Keg King vessel should I choose?
-
Apollo 30L Snub Nose Pressure Fermenter: a conical fermenter in clear, high-strength PET. It is an easy way into pressure fermentation and has a dry hop port for sanitary dry hopping.
-
Apollo 30L Unitank Pressure Fermenter: the Apollo with a stainless steel plunge valve and collection bottle, so you can dump yeast and sediment from the cone.
-
Fermenter King Junior: a 20L clear PET vessel, the same size as a corny keg. You can ferment under pressure and then serve straight from it on your kegerator or tap system. Two fit in a kegerator.
Filters
The Bouncer Inline Beer Filter (Classic and Mac Daddy) and Bouncer Pro filter and infuser catch dry hops, fruit pulp and yeast as beer moves from fermenter to keg. They use reusable stainless mesh screens.
What else you'll need
To control the pressure while fermenting you'll need a spunding valve or a Keg King pressure relief valve. You'll also need a CO2 supply and regulator and ball lock disconnects. Replacement seals and posts are in Keg King spare parts. For a stainless serving keg, see the Mangrove Jack’s 19L keg.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is pressure fermentation?
You ferment in a sealed vessel and let pressure build to a set level, controlled by a spunding valve. The beer carbonates as it ferments, so it's ready to serve sooner.
What's the difference between the Apollo Snub Nose and Unitank?
Both are 30L conical pressure fermenters in clear PET. The Unitank adds a stainless steel plunge valve and collection bottle for dumping yeast and sediment from the cone.
Can I serve beer straight from the Fermenter King Junior?
Yes. Once fermented and carbonated, connect it to your kegerator or tap system and serve directly from it. It holds 20L, the same as a corny keg.
Do I need a spunding valve?
Yes, to ferment under pressure. It releases excess CO2 so the vessel holds your chosen pressure.
What do Bouncer filters do?
They are inline filters with stainless mesh screens. They trap hop debris, fruit pulp and yeast when you transfer beer to a keg or serving vessel.
