Chemsan
Chemsan is a self-foaming, no-rinse sanitiser made in the UK by Chemisphere - the British equivalent of Star San. Brewers use it on fermenters, bottles, kegs, syphons and anything else that touches beer, wine or cider after the boil.

How to use Chemsan
-
Dilution: 2ml per litre of water (10ml in 5 litres - a 0.2% solution).
-
Contact time: clean the surface first, then keep it wet with Chemsan for at least 2 minutes.
-
No rinsing: drain and let it air dry. The foam left behind won't harm your brew.
- If your tap water is hard the solution may turn cloudy - that's normal and it still works as long as the pH stays at 3.5 or below.
Which size?
Safety: Chemsan contains phosphoric acid. Wear gloves and eye protection, never mix it with chlorine-based cleaners, and don't use it on soft metals.
Clean before you sanitise - pair it with cleaning and brewing equipment, or browse our beer kits and wine kits.
