What's the difference between malt extract and crushed malt?

Malt extract is concentrated wort, sold as a liquid or as spray (dried) malt. You just dissolve it. Crushed malt is the grain itself, which all-grain brewers mash in hot water to extract the sugars.

What malts do I need for all-grain brewing?
