The Better Brew Heat Pad is a round, flat heater that sits under your fermenter and gently warms it from below. Use it to keep beer, wine or cider at a steady fermenting temperature when the room is too cold.
Key features
- Low-power 25W pad - cheap to leave running through fermentation
- About 30cm across, to sit under a standard fermenting bucket or keg
- Standard UK plug, double insulated
- Delivers heat evenly to the base of the vessel
Why use one
Yeast works best at a steady temperature. Better Brew beer kits, for example, should ferment at 20-25°C - below 20°C fermentation takes much longer. A pad stops a cold night from stalling your brew.
How to use
Place the pad on a flat surface, stand the fermenter on top and plug in. Check the temperature with a stick-on thermometer; if it runs too warm, switch off for a while or move the brew somewhere cooler.
Complete the set
- 25 Litre Fermentation Vessel with Tap - stands neatly on the pad
- Better Brew Digital Thermometer - keep an eye on the temperature
- Better Brew Heat Belt - wraps around the vessel instead
- Better Brew beer kits - a brew to put on it
