How to use

Add to your juice or must at room temperature to start fermentation - the dose and steps are in the How to Use box below.

Who it's for

Home winemakers working from fresh fruit, juice or a recipe rather than a kit with its own yeast, and cider makers who want a reliable start. For fruit wines, add Pectolase to help the wine clear, and use Campden Tablets to sterilise the must a day before adding the yeast. Once fermentation finishes, Sodium Bentonite helps shift stubborn protein haze. Browse more wine yeasts in our yeast range.

How to Use
Dose
About 1 tsp per gallon
5 tsp per 23 litres
Temperature
18-25°C
When
At the start

Used for: Starts the fermentation of wine, country wine and cider - dried wine yeast with nutrient, vitamins and minerals in one tub.

When: At the start, once the must is at 18-25°C - and 24 hours after any Campden tablets.

Step by step
1Make the must up to volume and let it reach room temperature (18-25°C).
2Measure about 1 teaspoon per gallon (5 teaspoons per 23 litres), or as the tub label says.
3Sprinkle on the surface or stir it in.
4Fit the lid and airlock and keep somewhere warm and steady.
5Reseal the tub and keep it cool and dry.
Good to know: Don't add to hot must (over about 30°C) - heat kills the yeast. No need for extra nutrient - it's already in the blend.
