A medium toast American oak spiral for a smoother, gentler oak finish. Drop it into a bottle or carboy to add oak aroma and flavour to aged spirits, wine, beer or cider at a fraction of the price of a barrel.
Key features
- Medium toast American oak, cut into a spiral so the wood gives up its flavour quickly
- Lift it out when done - nothing to filter
- Suits rum, whiskey and brandy styles as well as oaked wines and beers
Specs
- Spiral length: 20 cm
- Wine: 1 spiral per 11-23 L for about 6 weeks
- Beer, spirits and cider: 1 spiral per 11 L for 3-6 weeks
How to use
Place the spiral in your bottle or carboy and taste every week or so, removing it as soon as the oak is to your liking.
Who it's for
Home producers who want a balanced oak character rather than the deep char of a bourbon barrel. For a bolder finish, choose the charred spiral.
