Brewing & Winemaking Sugar is dextrose monohydrate, the sugar most home brewers reach for in beer, lager, wine and cider. This pack holds 10kg split into ten 1kg bags, so you can open one bag at a time and keep the rest sealed.

Why brewing sugar rather than household sugar

  • Starts fermenting quicker and ferments cleaner
  • Household sugar takes longer for the yeast to use, which can produce by-products that affect the taste
  • Dissolves quickly and helps give a cleaner flavour

Pack details

  • Contents: 10 x 1kg bags (10kg in total)
  • Type: dextrose monohydrate
  • Uses: beers, lagers, wines, ciders - for the main fermentation and for priming beer in bottles or a barrel

How to use

Add the amount your kit asks for, dissolved in warm water, at the start of fermentation. For priming, add a small measured amount to each bottle or to the barrel before sealing, as your kit instructions say.

Ideal for regular kit brewers who want sugar in pre-weighed 1kg bags. Kits such as the Bulldog Brews 1.75kg kits need sugar adding; single 1kg bags are also available as Brewing & Winemaking Sugar 1kg.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's in the pack?

10 x 1kg bags of brewing sugar.

What kind of sugar is it?

Dextrose monohydrate - it starts fermenting quicker and ferments cleaner than household sugar.

What can I use it for?

Beers, lagers, wines and ciders - for primary fermentation and for priming beer in bottles or a barrel.

Why not use household sugar?

Yeast takes longer to use household sugar, producing by-products that can affect the final taste. Brewing sugar dissolves quicker and gives a cleaner flavour.

How much do I need per kit?

Follow your kit's instructions - many beer kits use 1kg, so a 10kg pack covers several brews.
