Maris Otter Low Colour Malt is Thomas Fawcett's Maris Otter, traditionally malted and then kilned at lower temperatures. You get the rich Maris Otter flavour with a lighter colour, which suits golden ales and paler beers.
Why brewers choose it
- Classic Maris Otter depth and sweetness
- A paler colour than standard Maris Otter
- Low in protein, ideal for single-temperature infusion mashing
- Strong enzyme content, so it converts itself and any speciality malts
Specifications

How to use it
Use it as your base malt in a single-infusion mash; add a little pale crystal or caramalt for extra body if you want it.
Who it's for
All-grain brewers making golden and blonde ales, pale ales, bitters, IPAs and lighter lagers who want British malt character without the colour.
Goes well with
- Maris Otter - 1kg - the standard version for a richer colour
- Pale Crystal Malt - soft caramel without darkening the beer much
- Lager (Pilsner) Malt - for an even cleaner, paler base
