Still Spirits Finishing Carbon 500g is a fine-grain activated carbon for the final polishing stage of home-distilled spirit. The small grain size gives a large contact surface, so it removes off-flavours, off-aromas, colour and congeners for a cleaner, smoother base spirit.

Why use finishing carbon?

Even a well-run distillation carries trace impurities that give raw spirit a harsh edge. Passing your diluted spirit through activated carbon adsorbs these, so it tastes cleaner and takes flavouring more evenly.

How to use

• Dilute your spirit before filtering - the Filter Pro is rated for 8 L of 50% ABV spirit per run.
• Rinse the carbon with clean water to remove fine dust.
• Load one bag into the Filter Pro and let the spirit drip through slowly for the best contact time.
• Discard the spent carbon and flush the filter with water.
