Heart Of England IPA is a home brew kit for an amber, English-style India Pale Ale, with floral and citrus hop notes over a gentle malt sweetness. It is part of the Heart of England range from Hamstead Brewing Centre in Great Barr.
What to expect
- Rich amber colour
- English hop character: floral with a citrus edge
- Satisfying bitterness balanced by malt
A bit of history
IPA grew out of the hoppier pale ales English brewers shipped to India. English versions are usually more malt-balanced than modern American IPAs, which is the style this kit follows.
You'll also need
- A 25 Litre Fermentation Vessel with Tap with an airlock
- A Wine & Beer Hydrometer to check fermentation has finished
- ChemSan - a no-rinse sanitiser for everything that touches the beer
- Bottles and caps or a barrel, plus Coopers Carbonation Drops if you bottle
How to brew it
Sanitise your kit, follow the pack instructions and check the beer has finished with a hydrometer before bottling. Prime bottles with sugar or carbonation drops for a good head.
Who it's for
