Tartaric acid is the main acid naturally present in ripe grapes and plays a vital role in the maturing, stability, and flavour balance of wines. Used by home wine makers to adjust acidity levels, enhance freshness, and give grape and fruit wines a more authentic, vinous character.
Add small amounts (0.5–1 tsp per 4.5 litres) to taste. More commonly used in grape-based wine kits than fruit wines — for fruit wines, Citric Acid is often preferred. Use alongside Yeast Nutrient, Winemaking Sugar, and Young's Dried Active Yeast for a complete wine making setup.
