What's in the pouch

  • 1.8kg of liquid malt extract with hop extract, in a stand-up pouch rather than a can
  • A sachet of dried brewing yeast, packed under the bag
  • No colourings - all the colour comes from the malt itself
  • 24-month shelf life, and the pouch won't dent in transit

How to brew it

Dissolve the malt and 1kg of brewing sugar in your fermenter, top up to 23 litres, add the yeast at 20-25°C and leave for 14 days. Bottle once the gravity reads 1008 or below with a heaped teaspoon of sugar per 500ml bottle, as you would for a lager. Young's Beer Finings help it drop bright before bottling.

Ideal for lager drinkers who fancy something with a twist. See the rest of the Better Brew range.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Bandit Brew taste like?

It's a Mexican-style light beer flavoured with tequila and lime - light and refreshing, ideal for summer and barbecues.

How many pints does it make?

Like the rest of the Better Brew range, it makes 40 pints from a tin of hopped malt extract and yeast.

What do I need to add?

Water and sugar, or light spray malt for a fuller body. Follow the instructions in the box for the quantity.

Which yeast should I use?

The kit includes yeast, but if you want to upgrade, Safale US-05 is a clean, neutral strain that won't compete with the tequila and lime flavouring. See our beer and cider yeast comparison chart.

How should I serve it?

Use Beer Finings for a clear finish, bottle with Carbonation Drops and serve ice cold.
