Frequently Asked Questions

Why use spray malt instead of sugar?

Swapping some or all of a kit's sugar for malt gives more body, a better head and a richer flavour. See our Brew Enhancer vs Plain Sugar guide.

Which malt suits my beer?

Light, Extra Light or Hopped Light for lagers, pilsners and golden ales; Medium or Amber for bitters; Dark or Extra Dark for stouts, porters and milds; and Wheat for wheat beers and hazy pales.

What is a brew enhancer?

A ready-blended mix of malt and dextrose designed to replace 1kg of kit sugar.

What's the difference between maltodextrin and lactose?

Maltodextrin adds body and head without extra sweetness. Lactose adds sweetness and body, for milk stouts - it contains milk.
