MasterPint Bitter is a budget-friendly kit for an amber British session bitter - the maker calls it the perfect session beer. One 1.6kg pouch makes about 40 pints.
With a deeper amber colour and firm bitterness, it is a proper everyday ale that tastes better than its price suggests.
What's in the pouch
- Selected liquid malt extracts
- Varietal brewery yeast - a little slower than cheap kit yeast, but the maker says it gives a much better result
- Packed in a stand-up pouch that can't dent, with full instructions on the back
You'll also need
- 1kg of Brewing & Winemaking Sugar 1kg
- A 25 Litre Fermentation Vessel with Tap
- A Wine & Beer Hydrometer
- ChemSan (no-rinse sanitiser) and Coopers Carbonation Drops for priming
- Young's Beer Finings for a brighter pint (optional)
How to brew it
Mix the malt extract and 1kg of brewing sugar with water to 23 litres, pitch the yeast and follow the pouch instructions. Serve slightly cool rather than ice cold.
