What's Included

A 1.5kg tin of hopped dark ale malt extract and a sachet of yeast. Add water and 1kg brewing sugar or Spraymalt Dark.

What Equipment Do You Need?

This kit is ingredients-only. You'll also need a 25-litre fermentation bucket, airlock, hydrometer, siphon, and bottles or a pressure barrel. Our home brew starter kits include everything in one bundle. Always sanitise with VWP or ChemSan.

Tips for Best Results

• Enhance with 200g Dark Crystal Malt for extra richness
• Use Spraymalt Dark instead of plain sugar for extra body and colour
• Upgrade the yeast to Safale S-04 — a classic English ale yeast that ferments fast, flocculates well for a clearer beer, and brings a subtle fruity character that suits a dark, malty winter ale
• Unlike most kit beers, this one genuinely improves for months in the bottle — brew it in October and it'll be at its best for Christmas
