WinExpert Classic Wine Kits are an internationally recognised premium home winemaking range, used by serious home winemakers across the UK and worldwide. Produced by WinExpert — one of Canada's most respected wine kit manufacturers — the Classic range sources grape juice from iconic wine regions around the world, delivering wines with genuine varietal authenticity and impressive quality.

At £54.95 per kit making approximately 28-30 bottles, WinExpert Classic works out at around £1.83 per bottle — exceptional for wines with this level of regional character and complexity.

Available in 18 styles — eleven reds, six whites and a blush. Every kit ferments in 4-6 weeks and makes 23 litres.

Choosing (and upgrading) your yeast

This is a premium range built for depth and varietal character, so the included yeast is worth pairing with one suited to that ambition. For the full-bodied, structured reds (Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre, Vieux Chateau du Roi, Trinity Red, Diablo Rojo): try Mangrove Jack's R56, built for rich reds with real aromatic complexity. For the lighter, elegant reds (Pinot Noir, Merlot, Malbec, Sangiovese, Tempranillo): Mangrove Jack's CR51 suits their softer, fruit-forward character. For the richer whites (Chardonnay, Viognier): Mangrove Jack's BV7 preserves body and flavour. For the crisper whites (Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay Riesling): Mangrove Jack's CL23 keeps it clean. For the White Zinfandel: Mangrove Jack's MA33 suits its off-dry character. If your fermenting spot runs cold over winter (often under 15°C), Lalvin EC-1118 is a reliable fallback across styles.

Tips for Best Results

  • Ferment reds at 20-22°C, whites at 16-18°C for best varietal expression
  • Allow wines to clear fully before bottling — don't rush this step
  • Reds especially benefit from 2-3 months of bottle conditioning
  • Store finished wine in a cool, dark place for longer ageing potential
