Why brew it

  • Traditional real ale character
  • Separate hop extract sachet for extra hop aroma
  • Yeast included; made by Muntons

How to brew it

Warm the can, pour it into a sanitised fermenter with about 3.5 litres of boiling water and 1kg of brewing sugar, stir well, then top up with cold water to 23 litres. Sprinkle on the yeast at 18-21Β°C and leave to ferment for 4-6 days, or until your hydrometer reading holds steady for 3 days. Prime with half a teaspoon of sugar per pint, keep warm for two days, then store somewhere cool for about 14 days until clear. Add the hop sachet as the can instructions direct.

Who it is for

Ale drinkers after a classic, hoppy pint without the work of a full mash. Add 1kg of Brewing & Winemaking Sugar and you are ready to go. Fancy something darker? Try Tom Caxton Dark Real Ale.
